Schedule Recurring User Jobs
Use the crontab command to manage scheduled jobs
list of commands that a user can use to manage their jobs
crontab -l | list the jobs from current user |
---|---|
crontab -r | remove all jobs from current user |
crontab -e | edit the jobs from current user |
crontab filename | Remove all jobs, and replace them with jobs that are read from filename. This command uses stdin input when no file is specified. |
Root can use
crontab -u
to change into other users
all user crontab jobs are stored in
/var/spool/cron/
you will see text files with the users name that are their conjobs
THe fields of the crontab are:
The fields in the crontab file appear in the following order:
- Minutes
- Hours
- Day of month
- Month
- Day of week
- Command
